The Role
Are you a passionate and motivated Health Visitor looking to make a meaningful difference to children and families across Greater Glasgow and Clyde? As a Health Visitor within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in promoting the health, wellbeing and development of children from birth to school entry. Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will build strong relationships with families, deliver evidence-based interventions and support positive outcomes for children. You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Location: Glasgow City HSCP
- Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
- Available Posts: Various full-time and part-time posts available in the North East, North West and South. Please detail your preference in your application.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the named Health Visitor for children within your caseload, supporting their wellbeing from birth to school entry age.
- Deliver the Universal Health Visiting Pathway, carrying out developmental and wellbeing assessments and making timely referrals where appropriate.
- Work in partnership with families, empowering them through a strengths-based approach to improve outcomes for children.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies to develop, implement and monitor child-focused plans.
- Provide expert advice and support in relation to safeguarding, child protection and vulnerable families.
- Maintain high standards of clinical practice, governance, record keeping and information sharing in line with professional and legal requirements.
- Contribute to service improvement, clinical supervision, staff development and the delivery of safe, effective family-centred care.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required
- Registered Nurse or Midwife educated to degree level or equivalent and registered with the NMC.
- Post-registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing and registration on Part 3 of the NMC Register.
- Educated to Master's level in a relevant nursing discipline or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, early intervention, child protection and health and social care pathways.
- Experience of managing a caseload, prioritising workload and meeting deadlines effectively.
- Ability to assess risk, apply critical thinking and make sound professional decisions in complex situations.
- Excellent communication skills with experience of working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children.
