Reporting to: Head of Health & Wellbeing
Hours: 40 per week
Salary: £33,000
Passport/Visa: Must be eligible to work in the UK
Location: Vicarage Road Stadium, various locations in Hertfordshire and Harrow
Contract Type: One-year fixed-term role with potential for extension, subject to future funding.

Summary of Your Role
We are looking for an experienced, passionate and motivated Health & Wellbeing Manager to lead and develop our Children & Young People health and wellbeing programmes.
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of impactful projects and initiatives that support the mental health, wellbeing and personal development of children and young people across Hertfordshire and North West London. This includes leading programmes focused on mental health, violence against women and girls, emotional wellbeing and wider health improvement priorities.
Working closely with the Head of Health & Wellbeing, you will drive programme growth, develop strong partnerships, manage staff and resources, and ensure programmes have a lasting impact on participants while maintaining the high standards associated with Watford FC Community Sports & Education Trust.
This is a one-year fixed-term role supporting an innovative and growing area of work. Subject to the successful acquisition of additional funding, there is potential for the post to be extended beyond the initial contract period.
Your Roles and Responsibilities, but Not Limited To
- Lead the development, delivery and growth of Children & Young People health and wellbeing programmes, ensuring they meet identified needs and deliver positive outcomes.
- Manage programme performance, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation processes, ensuring KPIs, targets and contractual requirements are achieved.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, local authorities, health partners, community organisations, funders and other key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for service development, innovation and programme growth, contributing to the sustainability and expansion of the Trust's health and wellbeing offer.
- Line manage and support the Health & Wellbeing Community Coach, alongside overseeing the recruitment, development and deployment of coaches, volunteers and casual staff.
- Ensure all programmes are delivered in line with safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and organisational policies and procedures.
- Support the development of funding applications, tenders and partnership opportunities in collaboration with the Head of Health & Wellbeing.
- Capture and demonstrate programme impact through effective monitoring, evaluation, reporting and participant engagement.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to promote programmes, engage participants and maximise community impact.
- Champion the Trust's Watford Welcomes values and contribute to creating an inclusive, accessible and welcoming environment for all.

You Must Have
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
- First Aid qualification.
- A relevant qualification or experience in health, wellbeing, public health, mental health, education, youth work, sport, physical activity or a related field.
- Experience of developing, coordinating or delivering health and wellbeing programmes for children and young people.
- Experience of managing safeguarding concerns relating to children, young people and adults at risk.
- Experience of line managing, supporting and developing staff, volunteers and/or casual workforce members.
- Experience of building and maintaining effective partnerships with schools, community organisations and key stakeholders.
- Experience of monitoring and evaluating programme performance and outcomes.
- Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
- A passion for improving the lives, health and wellbeing of children and young people.
- A flexible approach to work, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Understanding of the Trust’s commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) and Safeguarding.
You Ideally Would Have
- Safeguarding Level 2 (or above).
- Suicide Prevention Training.
- Training or qualifications relating to Children & Young People, SEND, neurodiversity, emotional wellbeing or behaviour change.
- Experience of project and event management.
- Experience of partnership working with education, health, local authority or voluntary sector organisations.
- Experience of managing externally funded programmes.
- Experience of budget management.
- Experience of writing reports for funders, partners or commissioners.
- Experience of securing funding, supporting tenders or identifying opportunities for programme growth and development.
- Experience of using data, insight and participant feedback to drive service improvements.
