This is a full-time, on-site Healthcare Assistant role based at Applecross Nursing Home in Glasgow.
The Healthcare Assistant will support residents with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, nutrition, and hydration, while promoting independence and dignity. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with safe use of equipment
- Following care plans
- Observing and reporting changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team
The role involves working within clinical and safety procedures, supporting medication rounds under appropriate supervision, and maintaining accurate records and documentation. The Healthcare Assistant will collaborate with nurses, allied health professionals, residents, and families to ensure high-quality, person-centred care in both younger and older adult services.
Qualifications
- Strong patient care skills, including person-centred support, compassion, and respect for resident dignity.
- Competence in manual handling and safe use of mobility and specialist equipment in line with training and policy.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Understanding of health & safety principles, infection prevention and control, and adherence to clinical governance procedures.
- Basic knowledge of medicine administration processes and willingness to support nurses with medication-related tasks under supervision.
- Relevant care qualification (e.g., SVQ/NVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
- Experience in a nursing home, hospital, or community care setting, particularly with complex physical disabilities, is beneficial.
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts, as part of a multidisciplinary team, and to follow established care plans and protocols.
