Job Overview

We are looking to recruit 2 enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants for the day to day running of our clinics. We are based in the Outpatient Department, running clinics throughout the week in Dermatology.

The post holder will assist with patient care, prepare clinical areas and equipment, order stock, support clinicians during procedures, undertake delegated clinical tasks as well as dealing with patients and relatives queries via our dedicated patient answer machine. We are looking for staff who are hard working, organised, caring and committed to supporting the dermatology team deliver a patient centred clinic. A positive, friendly and approachable manner is important to help keep our standards up.

You will be working in a stimulating and supportive working environment with opportunities for learning and development.

Main duties of the job

  • You will work as part of the Dermatology team, supporting nurses to provide safe, kind and high-quality care to patients.
  • You will support outpatient clinics by chaperoning patients, taking basic observations and helping patients with their comfort, toileting and hydration needs.
  • Once trained, you will help with wound care and dressings, carry out simple tests and report any concerns or changes in a patient’s condition to a registered nurse.
  • You will help patients during their visit by answering questions, explaining delays and making sure they feel comfortable, respected and supported.
  • You will help keep the department safe and well organised by checking and ordering stock, looking after equipment, preparing paperwork and keeping clinical areas clean and tidy.
  • You will also help with everyday administration, including answering telephone messages, passing information to the right team member, booking patients into clinics and arranging patient transport when needed.
