We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they’re likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

Marie Curie is expanding its overnight community service across Cornwall and we're looking for compassionate Healthcare Assistants to join our growing team.
As an Overnight Healthcare Assistant, you'll provide one-to-one care and support for people living with a terminal illness in their own homes, helping them remain comfortable, safe and dignified throughout the night. Working independently with the support of an experienced multidisciplinary team, you'll make a real difference to patients and families during some of life's most challenging moments.
About the Role
- Role: End of Life Care Healthcare Assistant (Band 2)
- Hours: 10:00pm to 7:00am night shifts
- Contract: Permanent, part-time (18, 27 or 36 hours available)
- Salary: £25,272 basic per annum pro rata (aligned with AFC Band 2) plus night enhancements of 41% on weekday nights & Saturdays (£18.22 per hour) and 83% on Sundays & Public Holidays (£23.65 per hour)
- Location: Central, East or West Cornwall
- Working Area: You'll work within approximately 25 miles of your home address, supporting patients within your local community.

What You'll Do
- Deliver compassionate, person-centred care in patients' homes
- Support comfort, dignity and wellbeing throughout the night
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition
- Follow personalised care plans and work closely with the wider clinical team
- Provide reassurance and support to patients and those important to them
Qualifications
- You'll have:
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- At least six months' experience delivering care in a health or social care setting
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach
- Experience or knowledge of palliative and end-of-life care
