Why this role is different
Most HCA roles keep you on one ward doing one thing. At MEDii you'll be at the centre of a boutique, specialist-led private clinic – working side by side with NHS consultant-level doctors in cardiology, dermatology, gynaecology and paediatrics – and you'll use your Mandarin every day to make patients feel understood from the moment they walk in. New to phlebotomy? We'll train you. If you have a caring background and the drive to learn, we'll give you structured, signed-off training in venepuncture and clinical support skills.
What you'll do
- Welcome patients (many Mandarin-speaking) and guide them through their visit with warmth and clarity
- Take blood samples, swabs and other specimens; label, process and dispatch them accurately to partner labs
- Record vital signs, ECGs and measurements; prepare clinic rooms and chaperone consultations
- Help consultants communicate clearly with Mandarin-speaking patients and families
- Keep patient records accurate and confidential on our digital clinic system
- Maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control, and a calm, clean, welcoming clinic

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
