About the Role

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to work as part of the team, maintaining good working relationships with patients, relatives, and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

  • To deal with enquiries from patients, visitors, and staff, as directed by qualified staff, in accordance with department practices, ensuring that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • To ensure that attention is paid to patients’ individual needs.
  • To ensure, under the direction of a qualified nurse, that patients’ personal hygiene needs are attended to and that all patients receive the desired standard of care as per care plan.
  • To assist in bathing patients and attending to hygiene needs, reporting any variation in skin condition to the qualified nurse.
  • To carry out, under supervision, eye/mouth/skin and hair care treatment.
  • Under the direction of a qualified nurse, obtain specimens e.g. urine, and blood.
  • To sit with and support patients during minor treatments.
  • Assist the nursing staff in patient positioning and exercises, ensuring the patient is moved and lifted in accordance with current moving and handling techniques.
  • To have an understanding with regard to asepsis, undertake clinical observations e.g. temperatures, pulse, respirations, peak flow measurements, and blood pressure recordings.
