Job Overview

We are looking to recruit experienced Health Care Assistants at Frimley NHS Health Foundation Trust (FHFT) who are currently working in the UK in a Healthcare setting. We have a range of Health Care Assistant (HCA) vacancies across our clinical directorates on our Frimley Park Hospital site.

We are looking for compassionate, caring healthcare workers who strive to deliver high quality care to patients. Please note this is a front facing clinical role where a high level of spoken and written English language is required. Please do not use AI software for completion of your application for this role.

You currently must be in the UK and have current experience of working in a UK Healthcare setting as an HCA.

Main duties of the job

As a Health Care Assistant, you will work under direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse/Nursing Associate. You will be primarily assisting the nursing team with care of the patients and will facilitate the smooth running of the department.

As a member of the ward/department team you will always support clinically your registrant colleagues and act in the best interest of patients. With this role we expect that everyone is treated with respect and dignity and values others’ beliefs whilst delivering clinical care. This is a clinical front facing role where excellent customer care skills are expected to be delivered to patients, relatives, carers, and colleagues.

You will need to be driven and prepared to deliver high quality care and attention to detail. In this role you can look forward to a career full of development opportunities and the support from an excellent team of healthcare professionals – working alongside a reliable and friendly team.

This vacancy is linked with the opportunity for Apprenticeship (for those eligible for Apprenticeships). This will support you to gain relevant knowledge, skills and experience that will help you achieve your potential in this role. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a national recognised qualification while you are working and earning, which will support you in both this role and in your future career at Frimley Health. Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

These are some of the clinical roles you may be expected to deliver as a B3 HCA at FHFT: please refer to the full JD for a more expanded list.

  • Provide excellent customer care skills to ensure patients come first.
  • Undertakes a range of delegated clinical care duties to deliver agreed plans of care, acting on own initiative.
  • Mentor and support new to care and Health Care Support Workers on the care certificate and to be a ‘buddy’ to any new starters.
  • To ensure that patients’ receive high quality clinical care and experience an excellent patient experience whilst using our Trust services, respecting customs, and religious beliefs at all times.
  • Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals.
  • To act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
  • Provides support and assistance to professionals in the implementation of plans of care for individual patients.
  • Assist with fluid and dietary needs of patients including completion of menu cards, thickening fluids (as directed by dietician/care plan), recording intake and output of fluids and solids consumed.
  • As directed to collect specimens from patients and to record all vital signs of a patients. These could include routine observations of weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation levels. Report any abnormalities and concerns to a Registered Nurse.
  • Recognise when patients are in pain and discomfort and report to a designated registrant Nurse/AHP of a patient.
  • To undertake venepuncture/cannulation when requested by healthcare professionals (once competency is completed).
  • To undertake catheterisation where competency is completed and applicable in a clinical area of employment.
