Role overview

We are looking for a new Healthcare Cleaner to join our Suffolk sites. This will be a part-time position, working 20 hours over 5 days a week Monday – Friday (additional weekend hours may be available).

The Healthcare Cleaner will be reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated, and will help to maintain exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, and support infection prevention and patient safety. They will follow NHS healthcare cleaning standards and local procedures, working both independently and alongside another member of the cleaning team.

Previous healthcare cleaning experience is not required. Full training will be provided, including IPC, COSHH, technical cleaning standards, and healthcare waste management.

What skills and experience do I need?

  • Hardworking, reliable, and trustworthy.
  • Takes pride in their work and has excellent attention to detail.
  • Is self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision.
  • Works well with others and enjoys being part of a small team.
  • Is willing to learn and follow IPC and healthcare cleaning standards.
  • Understands the importance of following instructions and doing things in the correct way.
  • Is comfortable following cleaning schedules and simple written procedures.
  • Is willing to complete all required training, including technical healthcare cleaning standards, IPC, COSHH, and waste management.
  • Can follow security procedures carefully, particularly when working outside normal operating hours.
  • Is flexible and willing to respond when cleaning priorities change.
  • Knows when to report a problem or ask for help.
  • Can complete simple cleaning records and checklists.
  • Is friendly, respectful, and professional around patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Is willing and able to travel occasionally to other Newmedica Suffolk sites to provide cover.
