Role Description

The Healthcare Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in London within the Department of War Studies. This role involves providing healthcare expertise to support teaching, research, and policy-related activities on topics such as conflict medicine, emergency response, and humanitarian health.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to curriculum development
  • Delivering training sessions
  • Offering subject-matter input on healthcare practices in conflict and crisis settings

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in healthcare and medicine, with practical experience in clinical or emergency settings.
  • Experience as an EMT or in comparable emergency medical roles, with strong skills in acute care and crisis response.
  • Proficiency in communication and training, including the ability to deliver clear, accessible instruction to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, policies, or practices relevant to conflict, disaster, or humanitarian environments.
  • Relevant professional certification or registration in a healthcare field; a degree in medicine, nursing, public health, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary academic environment and engage effectively with both specialist and non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the capacity to contribute to research, policy analysis, and educational program development.
