About the Role

Do you want to work in a transforming service that is committed to increasing and improving the Health Visiting offer in York? Do you seek a fulfilling role where you are valued, and your professional development is supported?

We are searching for an enthusiastic and dynamic Team Leader to influence the transformation of the Healthy Child Programme offer in York. We are committed to maintaining the public health nature of the service and focusing on improving health outcomes for children and young people in York.

York is a great place to live and work and is well above the national average in health, wellbeing, and happiness. However, we know that isn’t the case for everybody and that is where our 0-19 Healthy Child Service comes in.

The Healthy Child Service Team Leader plays a crucial role in facilitating the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme through effective leadership and development of their team. The Team Leader works collaboratively with the other HCS Team Leaders across 0-19 work programs to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery across the city of York. The Team Leader role is integral to the success of embedding the 0-19 delivery model.

The post holder will provide the foundations for the work environment and ethos required for their team to function and deliver services effectively through innovative, flexible, and child-focused leadership. Identification of support, training needs, and professional development of staff is an essential element of the role to ensure a quality service and to support staff wellbeing and retention.

This role is an intrinsic part of the Healthy Child Service leadership team and will report on a day-to-day basis to the HCS Operational and Quality Manager to ensure professional development and service delivery are clearly linked to population health and public health priorities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
