Role Description
Heat Pump Installers at Proton Energy Solutions perform full on-site installation, commissioning, and maintenance of domestic and commercial heat pump systems in Greater London. This full-time role includes surveying properties, interpreting technical drawings and specifications, and selecting appropriate equipment and materials.

Daily tasks involve:
- Preparing installation sites
- Fitting pipework and associated components
- Connecting heat pumps to existing heating systems
- Performing system testing and fault finding

Installers will work closely with project managers, electricians, and other trades to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient installations aligned with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines. The role also includes:
- Completing accurate documentation
- Providing customer guidance on system operation
- Supporting aftercare and occasional call-out work
Qualifications
- Technical skills in plumbing, heating system installation, and mechanical services relevant to heat pump systems.
- Experience with renewable energy technologies, including heat pumps and, ideally, solar PV or other low-carbon systems.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices (e.g., MCS standards, relevant building and electrical regulations).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving installation and performance issues.
- Good communication and customer service skills to explain system operation and manage on-site interactions professionally.
- Capability to work safely on-site, often in varied conditions, and to handle tools, equipment, and materials efficiently.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within Greater London and surrounding areas.
- Relevant vocational qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing and Heating or equivalent); heat pump certification or MCS-related training is required. Previous experience in heating, plumbing, or renewable energy installations.
