Heating Engineer – Air Source Heat Pumps

Salary: £32,000–£45,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Previous air source heat pump experience is preferred but not essential, as in-house training and ongoing technical support will be provided.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Heating Engineer to install, maintain and service domestic air source heat pump systems and their associated heating and hot water equipment.

This is an ideal opportunity for a qualified plumbing and heating engineer with at least five years’ experience who wants to bring their existing skills into the renewables sector.

Previous heat pump experience is preferred but not essential. We provide in-house training and support to help the right candidate develop their knowledge and confidence.

Based from Beverley, you will work at customers’ homes across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, working closely with our heating and electrical teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Install air source heat pumps, hot water cylinders, heating pipework, radiators and associated components.
  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and fault diagnosis.
  • Support system commissioning, testing and adjustments to achieve efficient operation.
  • Complete work safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions and relevant standards.
  • Maintain accurate job reports, service records and commissioning documentation.
  • Explain system operation and controls clearly to customers.
  • Keep customers’ homes clean and tidy and deliver professional, courteous service.

Essential requirements

  • At least five years’ practical experience in the plumbing and heating trade.
  • A recognised plumbing and heating qualification, such as an NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating, or equivalent.
  • A current Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems qualification, commonly known as G3.
  • Strong experience with domestic heating systems, pipework, hot water cylinders and fault diagnosis.
  • A full, valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across our operating area.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good customer communication skills, attention to detail and a commitment to safe, high-quality work.

Desirable, but not essential

  • Experience installing, servicing or maintaining air source heat pumps.
  • A recognised air source heat pump installation and maintenance qualification.
  • Water Regulations certification.
  • Knowledge of low-temperature heating, underfloor heating and heating controls.

Training and development

We value strong heating knowledge, practical ability and a willingness to learn. If you are an experienced heating engineer looking to move into renewable heating, we will provide in-house training and ongoing technical support to help you make that transition.
