Full time, permanent - quick progression for the right persons.
A long-established Staffordshire workshop reconditioning diesel engines for trucks, buses, coaches, plant and industrial equipment. The business has been in diesel engineering for decades, with a small team and its own workshop. The work is stripping, rebuilding and testing engines, plus supplying parts. Training is given, and there is room for the right person to take on more.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role. You will strip, assess, rebuild and test diesel engines. Full training is provided from the start, on the engines, the methods and the way the workshop runs. You do not need to know this exact work on day one. What matters is a good grounding in diesel engines and the willingness to build on it.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Large commercial engines are a plus, whether that is HGV, bus, coach, plant or industrial. Experience stripping or rebuilding engines is more useful here than general servicing.
There is a real chance to progress. The workshop is small, the work is skilled, and the right person will be given more responsibility over time. Someone who settles in and wants to grow can do well here.
What you need
- Solid knowledge of diesel engines.
- Experience stripping or rebuilding engines, not just servicing them.
- Large commercial engines are a plus: HGV, bus, coach, plant or industrial.
- Happy to work hands-on in a small workshop.
- Driving licence.

What is on offer
- Proper training from people who have done this work for decades.
- A small team, not a production line.
- Room to move up. The right person can take on more responsibility and do well here. This is a workshop that needs engineers who can grow with it, not just fill a bay.
Apply with a short note on the engines you have worked on. We would like to hear from you.
