Orbital Equipment Ltd is a well-established, leading plant hire company supplying the South East of the UK and beyond with modern, market-leading equipment. The company serves a wide range of customers, offering both operated and self-drive plant solutions. The diverse fleet includes excavators, dumpers, articulated dump trucks, telehandlers, rollers, and various attachments and miscellaneous items such as bowsers. Applicants will be joining a knowledgeable and friendly team focused on reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Waltham Abbey for a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Class 1 and Class 2 Driver. The driver will be responsible for safely transporting a range of plant equipment, including excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, and rollers, to and from customer sites across the region.

The role involves regular interaction with customers and site teams, ensuring professional handover of equipment and providing courteous service. The driver will work closely with the hire and operations teams to maintain timely deliveries, support efficient plant movements, and uphold company safety and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Valid HGV Class 1 and/or Class 2 license, with a clean or low-risk driving record and Driver CPC qualification.
  • Experience transporting plant or heavy equipment, including safe loading, unloading, and securing of machinery.
  • Strong understanding of road transport regulations, health and safety practices, and basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to represent the company professionally on-site.
  • Ability to read and follow delivery instructions, complete paperwork accurately, and use basic digital systems or satnav tools.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexibly to accommodate early starts, occasional overtime, and varying delivery schedules.
  • Familiarity with construction or plant hire environments is beneficial; forklift or telehandler tickets and prior plant movement experience are a plus.
  • Right to work in the UK and capability to perform the physical aspects of the role, including manual handling within safe working limits.
