Job Overview
We are seeking a Heavy Goods Vehicle driver, located in Naas Delivery Services Unit, to transport An Post mail products on its distribution network, in a timely and professional manner whilst operating within current driving and working time legislation.
Hours of Attendance
The hours of attendance will be 5 over a 7-day period. Whilst the normal weekly attendance schedule is 37.5 hours, attendance patterns will be network-specific and may vary in line with operational requirements. Flexibility is essential, and the role may require attendance outside standard working hours, including night work.
The hours of attendance for this position are:
- 12am - 8am
Responsibilities
The principal responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ensuring product conveyance in compliance with traffic conditions and weather conditions.
- To work safely whilst safeguarding Company property and mails product at all times.
- Operate HGV1, HGV2 and other company vehicles as required to support operational and business needs.
- To complete relevant training and ensure CPC certification is kept up to date.
- Provide general assistance with indoor work as required, including loading of vehicles.
- Comply with all standard operating procedures including scanning and tracking.
- Have a high level of safety and security awareness in the performance of work tasks.
- Ensure that you have a valid driving licence.
- HGV1 drivers are liable for the full range of duties on the MDN network.
- Undergo health screening programme in line with Company policy.
- Demonstrate An Post values and behaviours in your day-to-day work and address behaviour that supports/conflicts with them.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must:
- Have previous, relevant driving experience.
- Hold a current, clean CE driving licence for HGV1 roles and a valid CPC card.
- An understanding of tachograph legislation, with an awareness of relevant transport directives, regulations and measures which regulate driving times.
- Demonstrate a level of professionalism at all times and able to work on your own initiative.

Please note that the operational importance of this role is such that any employee who takes up a position in this grade will be required to sign a personal commitment to abide by the principles of the Industrial Relations Protocol. The Company has confirmed that the CWU will have sole recognition rights for the new grade. Drivers appointed to the new role will be required to accept this.
Salary
Salary range starting from €745.99 per week.
Placement within the advertised salary range will be determined based on the successful candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications and alignment with the role requirements.
