Role Description

This on-site Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Driver role is based in Colnbrook. The driver is responsible for the safe and timely collection, transportation, and delivery of freight to and from airports, warehouses, and customer locations. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Completing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks
  • Loading and unloading goods securely
  • Ensuring all documentation and delivery notes are accurate and signed

The role also involves:

  • Adhering to driving regulations, company policies, and health and safety standards
  • Maintaining clear communication with transport planners, warehouse teams, and customers
  • Keeping the vehicle clean and roadworthy
  • Reporting any defects promptly
  • Representing the company professionally at all times

Qualifications

  • Proven heavy goods vehicle driving experience, including Truck Driving and operation of similar commercial vehicles.
  • Valid CDL Class A (or equivalent HGV license) with a clean driving record and up-to-date Driver CPC where applicable.
  • Strong Communication and Customer Service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Good knowledge of UK road networks, driving regulations, and safe loading and securing practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts, late finishes, weekends, and overtime when required.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused, with strong attention to detail in completing logs, manifests, and delivery documentation.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills, and the ability to use mobile devices or in-cab systems for routing and reporting.
  • Previous experience in airport or freight logistics, and familiarity with secure site procedures, is beneficial.
