Heavy Lift Crawler Crane Operator

Location: UK Wide (Various Project Locations)

Contract Type: Contract

Duration: 12 Months

Start Date: TBC

Working Hours: Dependent on Project Requirements

Rate: Competitive, Dependent on Experience

Job Overview

We are currently recruiting experienced Heavy Lift Crawler Crane Operators for a long-term, 12-month contract supporting major construction, infrastructure and heavy-lifting projects across the UK. We are particularly interested in operators with proven experience operating large-capacity crawler cranes, specifically the Demag CC8800, Terex/Demag CC9800 and Liebherr LR11350. Successful candidates will have a strong background in complex heavy-lifting operations, excellent safety awareness and the flexibility to work across various UK project locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy-lift crawler cranes, particularly CC8800, CC9800 and LR11350 models.
  • Perform complex lifting operations in accordance with approved lift plans and site safety procedures.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections and routine operational checks.
  • Work closely with Appointed Persons, Lift Supervisors, Slingers and Signallers to ensure safe lifting operations.
  • Assess lifting conditions, ground stability and crane configurations before operations.
  • Ensure compliance with LOLER, PUWER and relevant UK health and safety regulations.
  • Identify and report equipment defects, operational hazards and safety concerns.
  • Support crane mobilisation, assembly and dismantling activities within the operator's competency and responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and inspection documentation.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience operating large-capacity crawler cranes.
  • Experience operating at least one of the following crane models:
    • Demag CC8800
    • Terex/Demag CC9800
    • Liebherr LR11350
  • Valid CPCS or NPORS crawler crane operator certification appropriate to the equipment and lifting duties.
  • Strong understanding of heavy-lift procedures, crane configurations and safe lifting practices.
  • Experience working on major construction, energy, industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to interpret and follow detailed lift plans.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work within lifting teams.
  • Willingness to travel and work across different UK project locations.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience operating multiple heavy-lift crawler crane models.
  • Background in wind energy, power generation, petrochemical, nuclear or major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with superlift configurations, lattice boom systems and complex lifting operations.
  • Previous involvement in large-scale crane mobilisation and demobilisation.
