Heavy Plant Fitter

Salary: £40,000-£50,000
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter to join a well-established and growing engineering business. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer with a background in heavy plant, commercial vehicles, or HGV maintenance to join a company offering long-term stability and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on a fleet of heavy plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and fault-find mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
  • Service and repair a range of machinery and commercial vehicles.
  • Complete inspections and ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with the operations team to minimise downtime and maximise equipment availability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Heavy Plant Fitter, HGV Technician, Plant Mechanic, or similar.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
  • Experience working on heavy plant equipment, commercial vehicles, or HGVs.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) desirable.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
