Job Description

You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing machinery to ensure our fleet remains safe, reliable, and operational. The role will suit someone who takes pride in their work, has a practical approach to problem-solving, and enjoys working with heavy plant and mechanical equipment.

You’ll Work On Equipment Including

  • ADTs
  • Excavators
  • Telehandlers
  • Dozers
  • Rollers
  • Screeners and Crushers

This role requires both mechanical and electrical fault-finding capability and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of heavy plant machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and technical information to identify and resolve faults.
  • Carry out inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance.
  • Complete accurate service, repair, and defect records.
  • Attend breakdowns and respond efficiently to machinery faults where required.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop and working environment.
  • Follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Engineering and Plant teams to minimize machinery downtime.
  • Support the wider Engineering team with workshop and maintenance requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience working as a Plant Fitter, Plant Technician, Agricultural Engineer, HGV Technician, Vehicle Technician, or similar.
  • Good mechanical knowledge and practical fault-finding ability.
  • Experience working with heavy plant, construction, or agricultural machinery is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider Engineering team.
  • A proactive approach to diagnosing and resolving problems.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, Engineering, Automotive, or a similar discipline is desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
  • Own tools are essential.
