PLANT INSPECTOR Aylesbury | £47,500 + Benefits | Permanent

NEOS Engineering are currently recruiting for a Plant Inspector to join an established engineering contractor working on the major project in Aylesbury.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Plant Inspector, Plant Fitter or Heavy Plant Engineer with a strong understanding of plant maintenance, inspections and compliance.

You'll play a key role in ensuring all plant and equipment on site is safe, compliant, reliable and ready for operation, working closely with the Plant Manager and wider plant team.

THE ROLE

As Plant Inspector, you'll be responsible for carrying out inspections, routine checks and basic maintenance across a large fleet of earthworks plant and site vehicles. You'll identify defects, monitor machine condition and ensure equipment meets the required safety and regulatory standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out PDI inspections on earthworks plant, completing on/off-hire records and documenting machine condition.
  • Record machine hours, existing damage, tyre condition and GET wear, supported by photographs.
  • Inspect 4x4s, minibuses and other site vehicles.
  • Check plant safety equipment including beacons, all-round vision cameras, dash cameras and reversing alarms.
  • Check and replenish lubricants, grease pots and other fluid levels.
  • Carry out routine weekly checks on tyres, GET and undercarriage wear.
  • Assist with diagnosing plant issues and report findings to the Plant Desk.
  • Produce risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Manage stock levels of fluids and maintain COSHH storage areas and workshop facilities.
  • Assist OEM engineers with locating machines and carrying out basic repairs.
  • Complete basic maintenance such as filter changes and bulb replacements.
  • Replace GET and cutting edges where required.
  • Issue Maintenance Permits to Work to OEM and authorised personnel.
  • Apply plant identification stickers and ensure equipment is correctly recorded.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
