Job Purpose
All Truck are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Heavy Vehicle Apprentice to join our growing workshop team. This is a fantastic opportunity to start a career in the commercial vehicle industry, gaining hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
As a Heavy Vehicle Apprentice, you will support the day-to-day running of a busy workshop, learning practical skills in the servicing, repair, diagnostics, and maintenance of heavy vehicles such as trucks, buses, trailers, and commercial fleet vehicles. You will work alongside experienced technicians who will guide and support you throughout your apprenticeship, helping you develop the knowledge and confidence needed to become a qualified heavy vehicle technician.
What Will I Learn?
- Assisting with routine servicing and maintenance of heavy vehicles and trailers
- Supporting technicians with diagnostics, repairs, and fault finding
- Carrying out basic checks including oil, tyre, brake, steering, suspension, and fluid inspections
- Learning to use workshop tools, lifting equipment, and diagnostic systems safely and effectively
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
- Assisting with vehicle inspections, MOT preparations, and quality checks
- Developing knowledge of heavy vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical components
- Following health and safety procedures and industry regulations at all times

Qualifications or Qualities Required
The ideal candidate will be confident, self-motivated, and eager to collaborate within a team environment.
- A genuine interest in the automotive and engineering industries, coupled with a curious mindset and a strong passion for problem-solving, is equally valued alongside academic achievements.
- Must have 5 qualifications at National 5 level, these must include Maths, English, and a Science. Predicted grades will be taken into consideration.

On-the-job training will be carried out in the employer’s workshop alongside your workplace mentor.
Off-the-job training will be typically a one-week block release at college.
You will build portfolios to record training, experience, and skills gained throughout your apprenticeship. You will be expected to self-study, and with the combination of on-the-job and off-the-job training, you will be working towards the Modern Apprenticeship Framework standards for Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, including Core Skills.
