An exciting role to work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager to ensure that all vehicle maintenance and MOT duties are carried out promptly, efficiently and in accordance with manufacturer's guidance and the applicable health and safety rules. The apprentice will assist qualified staff with all servicing and MOT work.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with undertaking the maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles
  • Ensuring that documentation regarding the MOT preparation, servicing and repair of vehicles conforms to ‘O’ Licence requirements and is accurately completed
  • Maintaining an ongoing visual assessment of any vehicles which are serviced or repaired by external providers, to ensure that the highest standards are provided by any third party and that they are adhering to all legal requirements
  • Report any workshop equipment defects
  • Comply with relevant legalisation

Requirements

  • GCSE in English (grade Grade 4 or equivalent)
  • GCSE in Maths (grade Grade 4 or equivalent)
  • GCSE in ICT (grade 4) - Desirable
  • Valid UK Driving License (Car)
  • Should the applicant not have a valid car grade driving licence and transport, Fiveways would arrange transport for the one day per week at Harlow College.

Our vehicle maintenance facility includes an MOT test lane for LGV vehicle and a separate MOT test lane for vehicles up to 7.5t. We have over 400 vehicles available on our fleet ranging from 32t waste collection vehicles, mechanical sweepers, 3.5t cage vehicles and other specialist vehicles.
