Eames are partnering with a leading energy business in London to hire a Hedge & Derivatives Accountant. This is a newly created role following a sustained period of growth for the company.

Reporting to the Derivatives Controller, you will run hedge accounting day to day across PPAs, intercompany power contracts and financial hedges. You'll work closely with Front Office, Risk and Trading Settlements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hedge Accounting: Maintain IFRS 9 hedge documentation, carry out effectiveness testing and account for cash flow hedge reserves through OCI. Prepare hedge accounting journals and IFRS 7 disclosures for quarterly and year-end reporting.
  • Derivative Reporting: Report on derivative trading activity, covering MTM valuations, P&L, Day 1 margins and valuation reserve movements. Make sure positions are shown correctly in the general ledger, the management accounts and the statutory accounts.
  • Reconciliation & Controls: Reconcile IFRS results to the Risk department's P&L each month, and investigate and resolve any differences. Reconcile derivative positions against internal records and keep clear, auditable working papers.
  • Compliance & Audit: Make sure derivative transactions comply with IFRS 9 and IFRS 13. Provide supporting schedules and draft disclosures for internal and external audits.
  • Process Improvement: Help make derivative reporting more accurate and efficient.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work with traders, risk managers and finance to turn trading activity into accurate accounting outputs. Help assess new products and structures as the hedging programme grows.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
