Hedge Fund Technology Analyst (Broad role: Python, Data & IT Systems, 2nd jobber/ x 1-3 years’ experience)
Martis Search is partnering with a Hedge Fund to appoint a permanent “Hedge Fund Technology Analyst (2nd / x 1-3 years’ experience)” to join its London based team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an entrepreneurial Hedge Fund during a key phase of its growth, working directly with C Suite level management and collaborating closely with the firm's Development, Data Analytics, IT Support and wider business teams.
Our client is seeking a technically versatile, commercially minded individual with a broad interest in technology who enjoys solving problems, improving business processes and implementing practical technology solutions.
The firm operates a predominantly enterprise software environment and adopts a low-code philosophy, enabling business functions to manage many of their own technology requirements.
However, as the business continues to grow and its operational requirements become increasingly complex, the firm is looking to strengthen its internal technology capabilities.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting the firm's technology infrastructure, developing automation solutions, maintaining applications and databases and helping colleagues across the business maximise the effectiveness of existing and emerging technologies.
This is a broad, hands-on technology role offering exposure to multiple areas of a Hedge Fund, including Front Office, Investment Operations, Finance, Compliance and senior management.
The Role – Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Automation
- Develop, maintain and enhance Python scripts to support business processes, data management and operational efficiency.
- Maintain and manage code using Git repositories, ensuring appropriate version control and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and develop practical technology solutions across the business.
- Collaborate with internal Development and Data Analytics teams to support existing applications and deliver new technology initiatives.

Database Management & Data Analytics
- Create, maintain and optimise PostgreSQL databases.
- Develop and execute database queries to support business reporting, analytics and operational requirements.
- Assist with data integration, database performance and the ongoing improvement of data management processes.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to understand their data requirements and implement effective solutions.
Microsoft 365 & Power Platform
- Support the administration and ongoing management of the firm's Microsoft 365 environment.
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID requests, SharePoint site administration and provide oversight of the Azure environment.
- Develop and maintain solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power BI and Power Automate.
- Create dashboards, automated workflows and reporting solutions to improve operational efficiency and business decision-making.
IT Infrastructure & Trading Systems
- Assist with the oversight and ongoing management of the firm's IT infrastructure and technology environment.
- Liaise with the outsourced IT service provider, monitoring service levels and ensuring technology issues are resolved effectively.
- Support the oversight of trading systems and other business-critical applications.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and external technology providers to ensure the firm's systems remain reliable, efficient and fit for purpose.
Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies
- Explore and implement practical applications of AI technologies, including ChatGPT and Claude, to improve business processes and productivity.
- Utilise AI development tools to support software development, automation and internal technology initiatives.
- Develop an understanding of AI connectors, skills and agents, and identify opportunities to integrate these capabilities into existing business workflows.
- Help colleagues adopt new technologies and identify opportunities to improve the firm's operational capabilities through AI-driven solutions.

The Ideal Candidate
Our client is seeking a technically capable, adaptable individual who enjoys working across different areas of technology rather than specialising exclusively in one discipline. The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
- Strong Python scripting skills, with experience maintaining code using Git.
- Experience creating, querying and optimising PostgreSQL databases.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, including Entra ID, SharePoint and Azure.
- Experience developing solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power BI and Power Automate.
- A broad understanding of IT infrastructure, enterprise applications and technology support.
- An interest in AI technologies, including ChatGPT, Claude, AI agents and workflow automation.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into practical technology solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively with colleagues across different business functions.
- A proactive, flexible and hands-on approach, with a willingness to take ownership of a diverse range of technology responsibilities.
Previous experience within a Hedge Fund, Investment Manager, Investment Bank or wider Financial Services environment would be advantageous, particularly where this has involved supporting investment professionals, trading systems or investment operations.
Salary
Between £60 k pa - £80 k pa dependent upon experience, plus a highly competitive annual discretionary bonus, healthcare and pension.
