Role Description
The Heidelberg XL105 10 Colour Machine Minder is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of the Heidelberg XL105 press on a full-time, on-site basis at our Rayleigh facility on a continental shift basis. Day-to-day tasks include setting up and running complex multi-color print jobs, monitoring press performance, and adjusting settings to maintain color accuracy, registration, and consistent output quality. The role involves performing routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime, as well as working closely with prepress and finishing teams to ensure schedules and specifications are met. The Machine Minder will review job tickets, check materials, and complete quality checks throughout each run, maintaining accurate records of production and reporting any issues promptly. This position requires a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and teamwork in a busy print manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

- Hands-on experience operating Heidelberg XL105 or similar multi-color litho presses, with the ability to set up, run, and monitor complex print jobs.
- Strong knowledge of print processes, including color management, registration, ink, and substrate behavior, with attention to detail in quality control.
- Ability to interpret job tickets, production specifications, and artwork requirements, coordinating effectively with prepress, finishing, and mailing teams.
- Mechanical aptitude for routine press maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Understanding of production workflows, deadlines, and health and safety practices in a print manufacturing environment.
- Effective communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a small, busy team.
- Previous experience in commercial print, direct mail, or related sectors is highly advantageous.
