At Farming Partners, we give landowners and career farmers the Freedom to Farm. For over 13 years, we've built successful, high-performing grass-based dairy businesses centred around Our Cows, Our People & Our Grass.

We're proud of our track record of developing talented people—from placement students to business owners with equity in their own farm. Due to farm expansion and internal progression, we're looking for a Herd Manager / Second-in-Command (2IC) to join our team.

The Farm

  • 400 Friesian/Jersey-cross cows
  • Block-calving, grass-based dairy system
  • Youngstock reared on farm
  • Located between Dumfries and Thornhill

The Role

Working alongside the Farm Manager, you'll play a key role in:

  • Delivering excellent animal health and welfare standards
  • Achieving key farm performance targets
  • Supporting and coordinating the relief team
  • Working with stakeholders and contractors
  • Making decisions around grassland management and grazing performance
  • Helping drive continuous improvement across the farm

What We're Looking For

You Will

  • Have practical experience in grassland management
  • Have experience leading or supervising people
  • Enjoy working within a block-calving system
  • Be passionate about grass-based dairy farming
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Hold a foot-trimming qualification
