Driver Hire Edinburgh City are currently recruiting experienced HGV Class 2 (Category C) Drivers to support a variety of well-established clients across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.
Whether you’re looking to pick up extra shifts, work around existing commitments or secure regular ad-hoc work, we have a range of opportunities available to suit your availability.
🚛 The Role
As an HGV Class 2 Driver, you may be required to carry out a variety of assignments, including:
- Multi-drop deliveries and collections
- General haulage and palletised distribution
- Deliveries to commercial, industrial and customer sites
- Loading and unloading goods where required
- Working independently or alongside a Driver’s Mate
- Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and reporting any defects
- Completing delivery paperwork accurately
- Following all road transport legislation and health & safety procedures
- Providing a professional and reliable service to customers

With a range of clients and assignments available, no two shifts are necessarily the same.
🕒 Shift Patterns
- Ad-hoc shifts available
- Typical start times from 6:00am–11:00am, depending on the assignment
- Monday to Friday work available, with occasional weekend shifts
- Typical shift lengths of 8–12 hours
- Minimum 8 hours’ pay guaranteed per shift
- Additional shifts available during busy periods and holiday cover
💷 Pay Rates
Monday to Friday
PAYE
- £14.50 per hour
- £19.32 per hour after 8 hours
PAYE Advanced
- £16.25 per hour
- £21.66 per hour after 8 hours

✅ Requirements
- Valid UK Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Valid Driver CPC qualification
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Maximum of 9 penalty points
- No DD, DR, CD or IN endorsements
- Previous Class 2 driving experience preferred
- Comfortable with manual handling duties
- Reliable, professional and safety-conscious attitude
- Good communication skills
- Flexible and available to work different assignments
