HGV Class 1 Day Driver - Northampton

Salary: £43,947 per annum

Location: Northampton

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Our client is recruiting a reliable and experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver to provide a safe, reliable, and customer-focused driving service from their Northampton operation.

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday to Friday, 12-hour shifts (including 1-hour unpaid break = 11 hours working time)
  • Various start times to meet delivery and operational demand
  • Flexibility is essential

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate HGV Class 1 (C+E) vehicles safely and professionally
  • Complete deliveries and collections in line with customer requirements and service level agreements
  • Demonstrate a strong customer-focused approach at all customer locations
  • Adapt to varying start times in response to changing delivery schedules
  • Accurately complete all required tasks across multiple digital systems
  • Ensure all driving activity complies with regulations and legislation
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
  • Complete all paperwork and electronic records accurately and on time
  • Communicate effectively with transport planners, supervisors, and site teams
  • Report defects, incidents, near misses, or accidents promptly
  • Comply fully with all Health & Safety policies and site rules
  • Participate in toolbox talks, audits, and mandatory training as required

Skills & Experience

  • Full HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
  • Valid Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph Card
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation
  • App-literate and confident using multiple digital systems
  • Flexible approach to start times and workload
  • Strong customer service focus
  • High attention to detail, particularly with compliance and digital records
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience working with Transport Management Systems (TMS)
  • Previous experience working to variable delivery schedules
  • Distribution or trunking experience
