HGV Class 1 Night Driver - Newport

Start Date: Immediate Starts Available

Pure Staff are currently recruiting for experienced HGV Class 1 Night Drivers to work with one of our valued clients based in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for professional and reliable drivers looking for regular night work, competitive pay rates, and ongoing assignments.

Pure Staff specialises in the recruitment of HGV Drivers for the logistics, distribution, and supply chain sectors, offering flexible work opportunities that fit around your skills, availability, and lifestyle.

The Role

As an HGV Class 1 Night Driver, you will be completing a mixture of trunk runs and pallet collections using modern Class 1 vehicles. All loads are forklift-loaded and unloaded, meaning there is no handball involved. Drivers will simply be required to open and close the vehicle curtains where necessary. Night shifts typically start between 17:00 and 19:00, with average shift lengths of 10 to 12 hours. This is an ongoing opportunity with immediate starts available for suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete trunking runs and pallet collection work safely and efficiently.
  • Operate Class 1 vehicles in line with all transport legislation and company procedures.
  • Open and close vehicle curtains as required for loading and unloading.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
  • Ensure all delivery and collection paperwork is completed accurately.
  • Adhere to Driver Hours and Working Time Regulations at all times.
  • Maintain a professional manner when dealing with customers and transport teams.
  • Wear the correct PPE whilst working, including safety boots and hi-vis clothing.
  • Successfully complete a driving assessment prior to starting work.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Holiday Pay

We believe professional HGV Drivers deserve proper paid annual leave. That means when you take a well-earned break, your holiday pay is there waiting for you. Your holiday pay is accrued separately and paid when you take annual leave, ensuring you're rewarded while encouraging regular time off, which we believe is essential for safety, well being, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
