HGV Class 1 Night Driver - Newport

Start Date: Immediate Start Available

Pure Staff are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 Night Driver to work with one of our valued clients based in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and professional driver looking for ongoing night shifts, competitive pay, and a supportive working environment.

The Role

As an HGV Class 1 Night Driver, you will be responsible for completing multi-drop deliveries and collections of palletised goods across your designated route.

Drivers can expect to complete between 3 and 12 drops per shift, using a pump truck where required. Average shift lengths are between 10 and 12 hours, with start times typically between 17:00 and 19:00.

This is a customer-facing role that requires a professional attitude and excellent communication skills when representing both Pure Staff and our client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete multi-drop deliveries and collections of palletised goods safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out between 3 and 12 deliveries or collections per shift.
  • Use a pump truck to assist with deliveries where required.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
  • Ensure all delivery paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
  • Adhere to all driver hours, working time regulations, and company procedures.
  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach when interacting with customers.
  • Wear the correct PPE at all times, including safety boots and hi-vis clothing.
  • Successfully complete a driving assessment prior to commencing work.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need

  • A valid Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
  • A valid Driver CPC Qualification.
  • A valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • A minimum of 6 months' Class 2 driving experience.
  • No more than 6 penalty points with no TT, TS, MS, DR, or DD endorsements.
  • A professional, reliable, and safety-conscious attitude.

Pay Rates

  • Monday to Friday Nights: £17.50 per hour plus £2.11 per hour accrued holiday pay (equivalent to £19.61 per hour including holiday pay).
