HGV Class 2 Driver

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a professional and reliable driver to support household and commercial removals while delivering excellent customer service.

SALARY: £34,000 to £36,600 per annum Basic plus overtime, tips, night out and weekend allowances + Benefits

LOCATION: Cranleigh, Surrey

JOB TYPE: Full-Time or Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Average 40 hours per week, with overtime, weekend availability and occasional nights away required

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for an HGV Class 2 Driver who enjoys a varied role combining professional driving, removals work and customer-facing service.

Working as an HGV Class 2 Driver you will be responsible for driving the vehicle and crew to client addresses, supporting packing, loading and unloading duties, completing paperwork and helping ensure each move is carried out safely and efficiently.

The HGV Class 2 Driver will represent the company on the road and at customer sites, maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, professionalism and care when handling customers' goods.

DUTIES

Your duties as the HGV Class 2 Driver include:

  • Vehicle and Crew Transport: Drive the vehicle and crew to client addresses for household and commercial removals
  • Packing and Removals Support: Support the crew with packing, carrying, loading and unloading customers' goods
  • Furniture Handling: Help dismantle and reassemble furniture where required
  • Daily Vehicle Checks: Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly
  • Safe Loading and Security: Ensure loads are safely secured and the vehicle is kept clean and roadworthy
  • Paperwork and Inventories: Complete required paperwork, inventories and job-related documentation accurately
  • Customer Service: Communicate politely and professionally with customers throughout each move
  • Driving Compliance: Comply with company procedures and UK and European safety and driving regulations

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold a valid HGV Class 2 / Category C driving licence
  • Hold an up-to-date Driver CPC and Digi Tacho Card
  • Previous HGV driving experience is preferred
  • Physically fit and able to pack, carry, load and unload household items and furniture
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including some nights away and occasional Saturdays
  • Polite, professional, reliable and flexible approach
  • Able to communicate confidently with customers
  • Good attention to detail when completing paperwork and inventories
  • Hold a valid passport
