About The Role

About The Role

As a Driver Team Leader, you'll be responsible for safely operating a refuse collection vehicle while leading a crew of Waste & Recycling Operatives throughout your daily collection route.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll ensure collections are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard while maintaining excellent health and safety practices.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Safely driving and operating a refuse collection vehicle
  • Leading and supporting your collection crew throughout the working day
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety procedures
  • Monitoring safe working practices and promoting a positive safety culture
  • Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects
  • Ensuring collections are completed efficiently and on schedule
  • Working closely with supervisors and colleagues to resolve any issues on route
  • Providing excellent service to local residents and businesses

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • A valid HGV Class 2 driving licence
  • A valid Driver CPC qualification
  • Previous experience driving HGV Class 2 vehicles
  • Experience leading or supervising a team, or the confidence to take responsibility for a small crew
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A strong commitment to health and safety
  • A positive, reliable and professional approach

Experience within waste collection, highways or environmental services would be beneficial but is not essential.
