Drive your career forward while helping keep communities moving.
At FM Conway, our HGV Drivers are much more than drivers. They play an important role in delivering the specialist drainage services that communities, businesses and the environment rely on every day.
We are looking for an HGV Driver to join our growing Water and Drainage Management team, working within our specialist Lining division. Alongside driving and operating our specialist vehicles, you'll work as part of an experienced team carrying out drainage rehabilitation and no-dig repairs across the region.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll combine your HGV driving experience with practical site-based work, learning specialist drainage techniques and developing skills within an essential and growing industry.
This is a full-time, permanent position based from our Rayleigh Depot with work carried out across the surrounding region. Some overnight stays will be required, for which you will be compensated.
As our HGV Driver within the Lining team, you will:
- Drive and operate specialist HGV vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure your vehicle is maintained to a high standard
- Transport specialist equipment, materials and colleagues to sites across the region
- Work alongside the Lining team to carry out drainage rehabilitation and repair works
- Assist with full-length lining, patch repairs and other innovative no-dig drainage solutions
- Prepare specialist equipment, materials and work areas ahead of repairs
- Support drainage investigations and CCTV surveys where required
- Work safely on site and within confined spaces, following all relevant health and safety procedures
- Accurately complete vehicle, job and site documentation
- Work collaboratively with your team to deliver a safe, efficient and high-quality service to our customers

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
