About The Role

Pertemps Bristol Industrial seeks an HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver for full-time, ongoing work in Bristol. Based at Avonmouth or Albert Road, with potential moves across other city sites, this role supports essential waste and recycling collections. Operating a range of Class 2 vehicles, you will join a crew to complete scheduled rounds, observing strict health and safety protocols. The position offers 39 hours weekly from 6:00am to 2:30pm, paying £17.27 per hour. Overtime beyond this attracts 1.5x pay, rising to 2x on Sundays and bank holidays. Long-term prospects exist, possibly leading to permanent placement. You will need a valid Class 2 licence and a professional, safety-focused approach.

We're recruiting HGV Class 2 Driver/Loaders for ongoing, full-time work supporting waste and recycling collection services across Bristol.

  • Location: Avonmouth & Albert Road, with flexibility to work across other sites in Bristol as required
  • Duration: Long-term opportunities with the potential for permanent employment
  • Hours: 6:00am – 2:30pm (39 hours per week)

The Role

As an HGV Class 2 Driver/Loader, you'll play a key role in delivering essential waste and recycling services across Bristol. You'll safely operate a range of Class 2 vehicles, work closely with your crew to complete scheduled collection routes, and ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely drive and operate HGV Class 2 refuse and recycling vehicles in accordance with road traffic legislation and company procedures.
  • Complete scheduled refuse, recycling, garden waste and commercial waste collection routes efficiently and safely.
  • Assist with the loading, unloading and collection of waste and recycling materials when required.
  • Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections, report defects promptly and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy.
  • Complete all required paperwork and electronic records accurately, including vehicle checks and route information.
  • Follow planned routes while adapting to operational changes as directed by supervisors.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring the correct use of PPE and safe working practices at all times.
  • Work flexibly across different operational sites and services to meet business needs.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, supervisors and members of the public, providing excellent customer service.
  • Keep vehicles and equipment clean, secure and in good working order.
  • Support the wider operations team with other reasonable duties as required.

Requirements

  • Valid Category C (Class 2) Driving Licence
  • Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
  • Previous HGV Class 2 driving experience is preferred.
  • Good understanding of driver hours, tachograph regulations and vehicle safety checks.
  • Comfortable carrying out physical, outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team with a flexible approach.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to safe working practices.
