Description
- Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace
- Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to
- Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents, and incidents in a timely manner to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence
- Complete daily pre-start vehicle inspections and submit to Transport dept
- Report all accidents, vehicle defects, breakdowns
- Ensuring compliance with Duty of Care regulations by inspecting waste and completing waste transfer notes, sheeting all loads to ensure secure transit of waste on the public highway
- The completion of relevant tickets or the use of the handheld device (as appropriate), detailing the necessary information and obtaining a customer signature
- Ensuring skips placed on the road have a road permit, and lights and cones are placed around the skip as detailed in Company procedures
- Ensure that health, safety, and welfare standards are maintained in accordance with the Company’s safety policy, Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedures, and Instructions
- Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab
- Advise management of any abnormal situation that cannot be dealt with
- Assist in the control and coordination of work to ensure efficiency and productivity
- Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service
- Identify and communicate any areas for improvement
- Actively take part in the driver debrief at the end of each shift highlighting any safety issues, vehicle defects, and recommending route and customer improvements.
