HGV Driver (Class 1)
Location: Muir of Ord, Highland
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working as required
Travel Requirements: Regular travel throughout the Highlands & Islands, including working away from home when required
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable HGV Class 1 Driver to join our operations team based in Muir of Ord. The successful candidate will support the delivery of a long-term contract operating throughout the Highlands and Islands, transporting plant, equipment and materials to various project locations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is willing to travel and work away from home when project requirements dictate.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport plant, equipment and materials to and from operational sites across the Highlands and Islands.
- Load, secure and unload plant and machinery in accordance with company procedures and industry best practice.
- Operate HIAB-equipped vehicles where required.
- Complete daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles are maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition.
- Ensure compliance with all road transport legislation, Driver Hours Regulations and company policies.
- Complete all delivery, transport and vehicle documentation accurately and promptly.
- Assist operational teams with site logistics and equipment movements.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, suppliers and members of the public.

Essential Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence.
- Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience loading, securing and transporting plant and machinery.
- Proven experience operating a HIAB crane.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within transport and site environments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekend work.
- Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.
Desirable Requirements
The following would be highly advantageous:
- Previous experience within the Utilities Industry.
- Valid 360 Excavator Operator Ticket and practical operating experience.
- Experience transporting utility or civil engineering plant and equipment.
- Knowledge of working within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure environments.
- Relevant plant or lifting operation certifications.
