About The Role

SugaRich is looking for an HGV Driver CE (Class 1) to join its transport operation in Knowsley on the night shift. You will use your HGV driving and hook loader skills to help provide an efficient, legally compliant logistics service for the SugaRich fleet and its customers.

This is a customer-facing role in which you will represent the SugaRich Group professionally at collection and delivery points. You will report to the National Transport Manager or another designated Transport management representative. This role will be on a 4 on 4 off rotation with an additional 5th working day every third cycle. 46 Hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, legal and competent HGV driving, including hook loader duties where required.
  • Complete pre-use and post-use checks on vehicles, trailers, ancillary equipment, plant and skips, where applicable.
  • Report vehicle, trailer, plant and equipment defects promptly, including nil-defect reporting where required.
  • Comply with road traffic legislation, the Highway Code, drivers’ hours, tachograph requirements and Working Time regulations.
  • Complete tachograph downloads at the required frequency and follow Company procedures.
  • Follow SugaRich safe systems of work, risk assessments, toolbox talks and customer or third-party site rules.
  • Report accidents, incidents, near misses and close calls through the correct channels.
  • Keep Company vehicles, equipment, plant, PPE and uniform clean, tidy and in good working order.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and deal appropriately with spillages.
  • Build effective working relationships with customers, colleagues and third parties.
  • Attend and comply with all training, instruction and assessment required by the Company.
  • Follow reasonable instructions from authorised Transport management personnel and carry out other reasonable duties supporting the transport operation.

  • Current and valid CE (Class 1) vocational driving licence.
  • Current Driver CPC qualification and digital tachograph card.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Professional, polite and presentable, with good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude towards operational and driver training.

Desirable Experience

  • Understanding of hook loader and bulker operations, or willingness to undertake appropriate training.
