About The Role
Pertemps Newcastle is recruiting an HGV Driver – Class 1 / C+E on behalf of Northumbrian Water, based at Tees Dock Road, Middlesbrough. This temporary, full-time contract runs for a minimum of five months, offering £16.88 per hour, with enhanced rates for night and weekend shifts. Working up to 40 hours weekly across four shifts out of seven, your primary duty involves moving sludge from regional sewage treatment works to processing facilities using modern tipper equipment. Candidates need a valid C+E licence, a digital tachograph card, and CPC qualification. Prior tanker or tipper experience proves advantageous, though thorough training supports the right applicant. Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of Northumbrian Water for an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Tipper Driver based at Tees Dock Road, Middlesbrough.
This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the region's leading utility companies, playing a key role in supporting wastewater operations across the North East.
The Role
As an HGV C+E Tanker Driver, you will be responsible for transporting sludge products from Northumbrian Water's sewage treatment works across the North East to treatment facilities.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Operating HGV Class 1 vehicles safely and efficiently
- Ensuring compliance with Driver Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive, and O-Licence requirements
- Carrying out daily vehicle inspections and defect reporting in line with DVSA standards
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant vehicle at all times
- Safely loading and unloading tanker equipment in accordance with Northumbrian Water Health & Safety procedures
- Promoting and supporting the "Everyone Home Safe Everyday" culture
- Driving in a fuel-efficient and environmentally responsible manner
- Delivering excellent service whilst representing Northumbrian Water professionally

What We're Looking For
- Full HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence
- Minimum 12 months' Class 1 driving experience
- Valid Driver CPC qualification
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Good understanding of EU Drivers' Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and compliance
