2 Months Contract with a Local Authority
Umbrella - £24.15 per hour - Umbrella
Job Purpose
As an HGV Driver, you will support Commercial Waste Services by safely operating heavy goods vehicles and assisting with waste collection, transportation, recycling, and related operational activities.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Drive HGV vehicles up to 32 tonnes in accordance with licence entitlements.
- Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections and checks.
- Complete driver logbooks accurately.
- Report vehicle defects, incidents, and accidents.
- Load, transport, and unload waste and other materials as required.
- Assist with sorting and recycling activities.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and equipment.
- Support operational waste and cleansing activities.
- Ensure vehicle security at all times.
- Comply with Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
- Attend training and operate new equipment when required.
- Work professionally with colleagues, customers, and members of the public.

Essential Experience Required
- Category C HGV Licence.
- Valid CPC Qualification.
- Minimum 2 years' experience as an HGV/LGV Driver.
- Experience within waste management, cleansing, grounds maintenance, or similar environment.
- Ability to complete vehicle safety checks and documentation accurately.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Flexible approach to working hours.

Additional Information to Note
- Working Hours: 36 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday.
- Shift Pattern: 06:00 - 14:00.
- Applicants must hold a Category C Licence.
- Vehicles up to 32 tonnes.
- CPC Qualification required.
- Manual Handling experience desirable.
