HGV Driver - Various Sites - North East Region

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced HGV Driver to join the team across Various Sites - North East for site works.

This role will involve working 38 hour weeks Monday - Friday, with an immediate start available.

The position is paid under AES agreements (£15.56 per hour)

Must be local to the North East Region

The role is permanent

Role Overview

The Industrial Services HGV Driver will be responsible for the safe operation of company HGV vehicles while supporting the day-to-day activities of the Industrial Services team.

The role will involve transporting personnel, equipment, materials and waste to and from client sites, as well as assisting the site team with general Industrial Services activities when driving duties are not required.

Due to the nature of Industrial Services work, the role will involve working across a variety of client sites and supporting different projects as operational requirements dictate.

The successful candidate must be flexible, safety-conscious and willing to support the wider team rather than carrying out driving duties only.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company HGV vehicles in accordance with company procedures and current road transport legislation.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Transport equipment, materials and waste to and from client sites and approved disposal facilities.
  • Support Industrial Services teams with general site activities when driving duties are not required.
  • Assist with industrial cleaning, tank cleaning, waste removal and general site activities where trained and authorised.
  • Work in accordance with site permits, RAMS, COSHH assessments and client-specific procedures.
  • Maintain vehicles and associated equipment in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
  • Follow all company and client health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Report vehicle defects, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Work across different client sites as required by operational demands.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends and occasional night shifts where required.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid HGV Class 1 Licence
  • Valid Driver CPC.
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Good understanding of HGV safety and daily vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Ability to work safely within an industrial environment.
  • Willingness to assist with general Industrial Services activities when not carrying out driving duties.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and locations.

Desirable Requirements

  • ADR qualification would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • CCNSG Safety Passport.
  • Previous Industrial Services or industrial cleaning experience would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience working on petrochemical, refinery, power generation, waste management or other heavy industrial sites would be an advantage.
