HGV Fleet Technician / Mechanic

Location: Dartford (On-Site)
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, Flexible Working Hours
Holiday: 30 Days Annual Leave

We are recruiting an experienced HGV Fleet Technician / Mechanic to join a growing transport operation responsible for maintaining a large fleet of commercial vehicles.

This role will involve servicing, maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet ranging from 3.5-tonne light commercial vehicles through to 26-tonne HGVs. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant and operational, helping to minimise downtime and maximise fleet reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair commercial vehicles and HGVs
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and technical faults
  • Carry out planned maintenance and vehicle inspections
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and compliance checks
  • Ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant with relevant regulations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records
  • Liaise with external specialist contractors where required
  • Support continuous improvements to fleet performance and reliability

The Key Requirement for this Position

  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing HGVs and commercial vehicles (3.5 tonne to 26 tonne)

You will also have:

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
  • The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively
  • A proactive approach to safety, quality and compliance
  • A full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Experience

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent vehicle maintenance qualification
  • Experience carrying out Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs)
  • Knowledge of DVSA maintenance standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience working on refrigerated vehicles
  • HGV Class 1 or Class 2 Licence
  • MOT Tester qualification
