HGV Mechanic – Glasgow Depot

We are currently looking to recruit for an HGV Mechanic to join our Transport Department at our Glasgow Depot within our Müller Milk & Ingredients Distribution business.

This is a great opportunity for an HGV Mechanic looking to work for a prestigious logistics company, servicing and repairing a modern, well-maintained fleet of vehicles.

The purpose of this role is to repair and maintain our HGV fleet to comply with legal and company standards. Candidates will be responsible for actively seeking solutions to challenges and for embracing a safe and efficient operating approach to their work.

Contract & Working Hours

  • Full-Time / Permanent
  • Shift patterns: Two-week rotating rota, covering day and back shifts
  • Each week totals 47.5 hours, worked over 4 or 5 days

Pay Rate

  • Standard: £20.84–£26.69 per hour (OTE £51k per annum)
  • Shift premiums:
    • Saturday: £22.45 per hour
    • Sunday: £29.69 per hour
    • Overtime / Bank Holiday: £29.69 per hour
    • Unsociable (1800–0400): £22.78 per hour

Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

  • Inspect and maintain our HGV fleet
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and transport to the test centre
  • Record vehicle defects and maintain accurate records of work
  • Repair minor accident damage
  • Carry out fault diagnosis
  • Prioritise safety in all areas of the role

Required Skills & Experience

  • Qualifications: City & Guilds Part 2 & 3, BTEC, or IMI in Motor Vehicle Management; or equivalent practical experience
  • Essential: Commercial experience working on HGVs
  • Preference: HGV Class C+E licence (not essential)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload
