Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site HGV Mechanic role based in the Manchester area, United Kingdom. The HGV Mechanic will carry out routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance on a range of heavy goods vehicles from the hire fleet to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with relevant regulations.

- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Performing repairs and component replacements
- Completing accurate maintenance records and service documentation
- Working with workshop colleagues to prioritize jobs
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Supporting vehicle readiness to meet customer requirements and operational schedules
- Assisting with preparation of vehicles for sale, including inspections, repairs, and final checks to the company’s high standards
Qualifications
- Strong skills in vehicle maintenance and equipment maintenance to perform scheduled servicing, inspections, and preventative care on HGVs.
- Proficiency in equipment repair and heavy equipment work, including mechanical and basic electrical repairs on commercial vehicles.
- Ability to carry out effective troubleshooting to diagnose faults, identify root causes, and recommend reliable repair solutions.
- Relevant vocational qualifications or apprenticeship in HGV mechanics, automotive engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience working with commercial vehicles, ideally HGVs, within a workshop or fleet environment.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices and regulatory requirements for heavy goods vehicles in the UK.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and collaborate effectively within a workshop team.
- Full, clean UK driving licence; HGV licence is an advantage.
