HGV Mechanic
Location: Redditch
Salary: £18.50 - £22.00 per hour
Our client is a family-run transport and plant business operating a mixed fleet of commercial vehicles and heavy plant machinery. They are seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their workshop team, primarily carrying out maintenance and repairs on HGVs whilst also supporting the maintenance of plant equipment when required.
Role Overview
- Carry out servicing, repairs, and diagnostics on HGVs
- Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
- Support the maintenance and repair of plant machinery where required
- Respond to breakdowns and carry out reactive repairs
- Perform safety inspections and preventative maintenance
- Maintain accurate service records and workshop documentation
- Work effectively as part of a small engineering team

Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant mechanical qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent)
- Previous HGV engineering experience is essential
- Experience working on heavy plant machinery would be advantageous
- MOT testing qualifications would be advantageous
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
Salary & Benefits
- £18.50 - £22.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience
- Monday to Friday: 07:00 - 18:00
- Every other Saturday: 07:00 - 13:00
- Flexibility available on start and finish times depending on workload and experience
