Overview

PSS Workshops is a specialist Commercial Vehicle repairer based in Ellesmere Port, with an excellent reputation for HGV and Road Tanker maintenance, repair and inspection.

As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced and proactive Parts Manager to build and lead our newly established in-house parts operation.

This is a unique opportunity to join PSS Workshops at an exciting stage of its journey. We're bringing our parts function in house and are looking for someone who wants to build, develop and shape the department from the ground up.

We're not simply looking for somebody to manage stock. We're looking for somebody who can create an efficient, workshop-focused parts operation that helps technicians stay productive and keeps vehicles moving through the workshop with minimal delay.

You'll work closely with our workshop team to understand future workload, plan parts requirements in advance and ensure known parts requirements are available before vehicles arrive on site wherever reasonably possible.

If you're somebody who enjoys creating order, improving processes and making a tangible impact on business performance, we'd love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Building, developing and managing our new in-house parts operation.
  • Planning parts requirements for upcoming workshop jobs.
  • Working closely with technicians and workshop management to understand future vehicle requirements.
  • Sourcing and ordering parts from suppliers.
  • Monitoring deliveries and resolving shortages quickly.
  • Managing stock levels, stock accuracy and inventory control.
  • Building strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Managing supplier consignment and impressed stock where applicable.
  • Creating practical processes for allocating and preparing parts against planned work.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce workshop downtime.
  • Ensuring parts are available before vehicles arrive on site wherever reasonably possible.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We’re looking for someone who naturally plans ahead. You’ll be the sort of person who looks at next week’s workshop schedule and starts thinking about what parts will be needed before anyone asks the question.

You’ll understand that a missing part doesn’t just mean an outstanding order. It can mean a technician waiting, a workshop bay tied up unnecessarily and a customer waiting longer for their vehicle.

  • Proactive rather than reactive.
  • Highly organised and detail-focused.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of problems through to resolution.
  • Solutions-focused and commercially aware.
  • A strong communicator who builds positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Motivated by improving processes and driving efficiency.

What you’ll get

  • The opportunity to build and lead a new in-house parts operation from the ground up.
  • Genuine ownership and the freedom to shape practical, effective processes.
  • The chance to make a measurable impact on workshop performance.
  • A supportive and experienced team environment.
  • Long-term career development opportunities within a growing business.
  • A competitive salary dependent on experience.
