Monday to Friday, Perm Days

Start between 06:00–08:00

Finish between 16:00–18:00 depending on workload

Job Description

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy public sector fleet workshop based in Ilford on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

You will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and repairs across a varied fleet of commercial and municipal vehicles.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Technician looking for a strong hourly rate, weekday working and the opportunity to secure a permanent position with a stable long-term employer.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV and commercial vehicles
  • Completing scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
  • Identifying worn or defective components in accordance with DVSA standards
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT and statutory inspections
  • Completing maintenance records and associated workshop documentation
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and to required quality standards
  • Working with the wider workshop team to maintain vehicle availability
  • Keeping workshop areas, tools and equipment safe and organised

Desired Skills And Experience

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • City and Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, Heavy Vehicle Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician
  • Strong knowledge of HGV inspection, maintenance and repair procedures
  • Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • An understanding of DVSA standards
  • A full UK driving licence
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team

Experience working on municipal, refuse, specialist fleet or public sector vehicles would be advantageous but is not essential.

PACKAGE

  • £32.00 per hour
  • Temporary-to-permanent opportunity
