HGV / Commercial Vehicle Technician
Glasgow
£20.00 - £25.00 per hour (£47,000 - £58,500 per annum)
Hours: Monday - Friday | 45 hours per week
Working Hours: 7:30am - 5:00pm
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced HGV / Commercial Vehicle Technician to join a well-established, independent commercial vehicle business based in Glasgow. Our client operates a modern, well-equipped workshop, providing servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs across a wide range of commercial vehicles, from light commercial vans through to heavy goods vehicles.
Working with an established portfolio of blue-chip customers, the business prides itself on providing a high standard of service whilst maintaining a positive and supportive working environment for its technicians. Unlike many high-pressure workshop environments, our client places a strong emphasis on manageable workloads, employee wellbeing, and ensuring technicians have the time and facilities required to complete work to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs across a wide range of commercial vehicles, including LCVs, LGVs, and HGVs.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and vehicle system faults.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy.
- Carry out MOT preparation, vehicle inspections, servicing, and brake testing.
- Work across a multi-brand fleet, gaining exposure to various makes and models of commercial vehicles.
- Identify defects and complete necessary repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of servicing, maintenance, and repair work.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently, maintaining high workshop standards.

Requirements
- Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, LGV Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician, or HGV Mechanic.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of commercial vehicles, ideally including heavy goods vehicles.
- Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections, and mechanical repairs.
- Confident diagnosing and repairing faults across different vehicle manufacturers.
- Relevant qualifications in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) would be desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an established workshop team.
- A proactive approach to vehicle maintenance, safety, and quality workmanship.
