HGV Technician - Grantham
Basic Salary: (£19.50 per hour)
Overtime: £29.25 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week, including a paid 30-minute break
Shift Pattern
Monday to Friday, alternating weekly:
- Early shift: 06:00-14:00
- Late shift: 14:00-22:00
Every other Saturday is required and paid at the overtime rate. Additional overtime opportunities and call-out/standby duties are available.
The Role
We are recruiting an experienced, Level 3 qualified HGV Technician to join a fleet maintenance workshop in Grantham.
You will carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on heavy goods vehicles and trailers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. The role offers ongoing manufacturer training, professional development and opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, safety inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs and trailers.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and complete major and minor repairs.
- Identify worn or defective components in accordance with DVSA standards.
- Work closely with the workshop team to diagnose faults and plan repairs.
- Complete job cards, maintenance records and warranty documentation accurately.
- Provide roadside repair support in the event of breakdowns, as required.
- Maintain workshop stock records and keep the working environment clean and organised.
- Follow health and safety procedures and maintain high standards of workmanship.

Skills and Experience
- Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, such as NVQ, City & Guilds or IMI.
- Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or HGV Fitter.
- Strong diagnostic skills and experience servicing and repairing heavy goods vehicles.
- Knowledge of DVSA standards and vehicle inspection requirements.
- A current, full UK driving licence covering the relevant vehicle classes.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A reliable approach, good attention to detail and a commitment to safe working practices.
