HGV Technician / HGV Fitter

An opportunity has arisen for an HGV Technician / HGV Fitter to join a road repair and green technology company specialising in sustainable asphalt and pothole repair solutions, including patented thermal repair technology and equipment.

As an HGV Technician / HGV Fitter, you will be diagnosing faults, carrying out hands-on repairs and maintenance, and taking ownership of vehicle availability and safety.

This role offers benefits and a salary of up to GBP 43,000 which is negotiable for the right candidate.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Carrying out servicing, inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance on HGVs and associated vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using technical information, schematics and modern diagnostic equipment, including laptop-based systems.
  • Identifying faults and completing repairs to brakes, engines, transmissions, electrical systems and other vehicle components.
  • Undertaking fabrication, welding, soldering and component assembly as part of repair and modification work.
  • Working with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and other workshop machinery.
  • Inspecting and maintaining associated equipment, including trailers, excavators and forklifts.
  • Preparing vehicles for MOTs and carrying out any necessary work to ensure they are safe and ready to return to service.
  • Keeping clear and accurate records of servicing, repairs and inspections.

What We Are Looking For

  • Hands-on experience in HGV maintenance and repair.
  • A strong mechanical background with substantial practical experience working on vehicles and using workshop tools.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Confidence using modern vehicle diagnostic equipment, including laptop-based diagnostics.
  • Experience with vehicle electrical systems, wiring and electronic components.
  • Practical fabrication, welding and soldering skills.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and electrical diagrams.
  • Carry out heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks safely.
